I had log-on issues which kept me off Brickboard for a while...but now that I'm back...
...in the Low Pressure Switch Peebee writes of, I expect it simply has a weaker return spring providing counter force for the contact plate, and this does not address the slow contact closure and resulting arcing (in-fact, I expect it might make the arcing worse...).

Converting over to a Pedal Position Sensing Brake Light Sw on the other hand suffers no such inherent weakness, plus as you are aware, it activates Brake Lights as soon as Pedal is moved from the rest position, so it is a measurable decrease in the time it takes for Brake Lights to come on...a definite safety upgrade!
