Hakan,

I had a somewhat similar problem with my '92,

I did a thermostat change at ~60K, about a year later, I had an overheating incident due to a coolant leak.

After that, I noticed the cycling on the highway. Worked out it was the thermostat--it was obviously damaged when I took it out.

Been fine for ~50K miles since.
