The back-up lights work but I will check for the neutral switch.

I suspect I may have a broken wire b/w the "bridge connector" (Haynes description) on the firewall, and the solenoid (this would be the blue/yellow wire).

What I have jury rigged - is a hot wire to the left spade on the solenoid; when the ignition switch is in the "run" position, and 12V is supplied via the "hot" wire, the starter turns over. It is a little inconvenient, but functional for the short term.
