Driver's door modification questions... 140-160 1973

Well, it's time to replace the severely dented dark green driver's door on my '73 145 with one that I got from an '83 245DL. What I'd like to know is, would it be easier to update the striker plate on the B-pillar to the later style, or would it be easier to replace the lock mechanism with the parts from the original door, like what's described in the green Volvo 240 manuals?
