After two more years and lots of $$$$ spent on my GLE (guessing a whopping $5000 total-not including the price I paid for it), with a nice darker red color, would anyone be interested in taking possesion for a fraction of the HUGE amount of money I will have dropped into it? I mean fixing nearly everything and keeping up on the regular maintainance as well. I will be getting a newer brick and would hate to see this one go to an unworthy owner. I will be rebuilding the transmission (ZF) but it will be like new and totally new suspension (more than likely). The only thing I don't plan on doing is rebuilding/ replacing the engine (unless unforseen things happen). I am having all the sensors/ connections, AC components replaced as needed and the carpets replaced. Yes, it seems like a restoration project and feels like one, too. It should be 90% restored to its factory new condition. While we're on the subject, are there any restoration pros out there? I never get to hear from the resto pros. Any tips on what kind of auto raising device (economical)I should use? ie: a particular hydraulic jack or ramps, or ???
By the way, any suggestions as to which model I should get for my next? I was thinking on trying to stay with the RWD theme but by then, what will be the latest model/ year available. I was thinking on switching....shhhh don't tell everyone. I was thinking about going front wheel drive...like the S70 or the less expensive S40. Let me know what would be best for longer term (maintainance wise). The restoration process is too much for me. The last resto project I had was a 76 camaro, I'm going insane.
Thanks,
