Clean off the residual oil and insert the new plug.

When I installed one, I used Permatex aircraft gasket sealer—with the engine warm, it slid in well.

Once in, I installed a retaining strap across the plug. IPD sells one or you can fabricate your own from a simple piece of aluminum flat stock.

Clean the flame trap, et al., to protect your seals. High pressure can pop the rear main outta the housing. It's a bit more of a repair job than the plug.
