Hi Denis,

I had some idle problems (too low @ 500 RPM) on my '92 740 non-Turbo.

Started with the FAQ's, but found my IAC was more like you describe with an aluminum housing that didn't seem like prying would do it much good.

I cleaned it up with carb cleaner so I could see how it worked. It seemed to be more like a solenoid than a rotating motor, with a plunger that moved in and out.

Seems to work better now, almost never stumbles or wanders down to 500 RPM.
