Loosen the lock nut and screw the screw in about 1/4 at a time, re-snugging the nut each time. After each adjustment, turn the the steering wheel all the way from lock-to-lock to check for over-tightness. The problem is that the steering box gears wear worse at the center point, and if you adjust ALL the play out at that point, you may get binding when turning to left or right.
