Methods for finding water leaks 700 88

I have torn out half the carpet from my car due to a leak from somewhere which ends up flooding the whole left floor, front and back. Does anyone have any brilliant ways of finding the source of the leaks in their cars. I was thinking of drying the whole thing out, lining the floor with paper towels, and maybe that would give me an indication of where it's coming from. Any other ideas?
