Either locate a 12 volt Quartz movement, marine or early Volvo 200 for instance, or put a voltage regulator and resistors to drop 12 volts to the 1.5 or other voltage. In using this second idea the battery is actually left in place and is rechargable. This system bridges any period that the battery is out of the car or down. How did the Quartz movement set? Most cheap movements are set from the rear. The movements in the early 200s would lend themselves to this alteration and they set from the front.
