My 740 station wagon has some strange symptoms...are they connected?
1- Often while driving, the car's power totally cuts out - all the dashboard lights come on, there is no sound, no sputtering or stalling, but the car is as dead as anything. After several desperate minutes by the side of the road, the car engine will finally turn over, usually on the fifth or sixth attempt. This is happening more and more often --- of course never for the test drive at the garage...
2- Radio has no memory. Whenever the car starts up, the radio is at the end of the dial, at 87.9. Also, sometimes while driving, all the red lights around the radio will go on and the radio cuts out. Sometimes if I give it the right Fozie-style punch, it'll come back on.
3- Overdrive is screwy. While driving, the manual overdrive gets suddenly overrided. The car gets really sluggish and even if i push that little button to turn it off, it remains on...
I have taken the car to three shops, including the volvo dealership and everyone is stumped. I've recently gotten a new battery, alternator brushes, fuse box and relay - but no improvement. Any thoughts?
