Swapping wiper/turn indicator switches for RHD - done 200 1988

Now I can operate the gearchange and the turn indicator at the same time, despite the insistence of EU bureaucrats that I should not. Cost: zero.

The window wiper/washer and turn indicator switches have identical mounts and screw spacings, so they are easy to swap on the mounting sleeve that was obviously designed for having them on either side. One slight snag is the turn indicator cancel ridge that is on a plastic sleeve on the steering wheel hub. For that the wheel must be pulled off (and for that the centre pad and the horn switch plate must be pried off first), requiring a DEEP 27 mm socket or a tube wrench. Repositioning the indicator cancel ridge on the RHS is simple, as the steering wheel hub already has a notch there as well. The other small task is to enlarge the wiper-stalk cutout on plastic trim panel under the steering wheel hub.

Purists might investigate if older RHD models had the wiper switch on the left, in which case presumably the standard switch pattern could be retained.
