I looked this up for a request and it is posted for his question. Since I took the trouble to copy this from the manual I thought others may want to save it.
This applies to the optional "Guard Alarm II" for 940/960 from 93 and the "Basic Model" for 960 from 1995 on.
PROGRAMMING NEW REMOTES:
All remotes which are to be used for the alarm must be programmed at the same time (max of 4).
METHOD:
- 1 Shut all doors, the bonnet and the boot.
-Turn the ignition on and off at least 5 times within 10 seconds, until the alarm LED begins blinking. Leave the ignition on.
(The first remote transmitter must be programmed within 15 seconds while the alarm LED is blinking.)
- Only press one of the two keys on the remote transmitter to be programmed.
(An acknowledgement from the alarm LED is indicated by a steady light for approximately 2 seconds and then a blinking light for 10 seonds.)
- Program other remote transmitters at a maximum of 10 second intervals, while the alarm LED is blinking.
- Turn off the ignition and verify functions on all of the remote transmitters.
