Temp. irregular 200 87

The temp on my 240 has occasionally been running high, but it usually goes back down to normal within a few minuts. I've heard this may be an electrical issue, and possibly related to the instrument lights recently going out. The temp can rise at any speed and it doesn't matter how long I've been driving the car. Thanks for any suggestions, Brad
