Smell the oil stick. Does it smell strongly of gas in the 89?

Mine does, which is giving me great distress. My flame trap is more cleaner than my ears. Further more, I just changed my oil, Mobil1 syn after about 2500 miles (doing flush) and the new oil (mobil1) feels so so much better. It's got the 'soft' feeling. Strange for the older syn oil to loose it's 'soft' feeling so soon.

But the plugs are clean and pipe is also clean.
