Quick stop 200 1993

Friend's 93 240 classic, B23F, M47, 187k mi. Bolt came out of rear cover on engine, lodged between engine and flywheel at approximately 50 mph. Replaced clutch and bearings while apart. Engine would turn over a few times and the first cylinder that fired would stop it. Brickboard assist was starter problem. Found starter to be damaged, replaced. Now it will turn over faster and almost start, but engine hits hard, shakes, and will only fire a few times like that before stopping. When each cylinder is brought to TDC rotor is pointing to the proper wire. Can someone PLEASE tell me how to check the flywheel timing??
