HELP! 4 hours to fix- timing issue! 700 1985

Quick history.. Timing belt broke about a year ago. Fixed it, re-timed it, everything looked good. Intermediate shaft seal broke, so I replaced it over the weekend. Before doing so, I timed the engine, and couldn't see the timing mark. Figured it was just really dirty so I would clean it. Did the timing job, put the belt back on exactly as it was, cleaned and re-marked the timing mark. Timed it just today. Timing mark is off by roughly 90 deg clockwise! How could this have happened? Should I disassemble and re-tdc everything? Could this have anything to do with the cap & rotor replacement I did a few months ago?
