IPD sells a very nice reinforcing ring for $8.95 that is supposed to prevent exactly what happened to your original engine. If the engine is not installed, buy a reinforcing ring and install it for peace of mind. To test oil pressure, connect a guage where the oil galley has a plug just forward of the oil pressure sending unit. The plug is 6mm internal hex, and the threads are 1/4 inch NPT. Simply unscrew the plug and connect a gauge. I just had one of the the oil supply tube seals fail, and that is exactly where I tested the oil pressure. The gauge is still connected and under the hood.
