Hi Bob -
I looked in my vcna parts quick reference for youra/c compressor. It shows a p/n 6848077-1 is used on the 740 B230F, B230FT and B234F from 1985 on, and also is used on the 240B230 in the 240 series. That means there may be a lot of boneyard denizens to look at.
Things to look for: 1) One the rear edge of a drivers door is a sticker giving the month/year the car was built. In general newer is better. The 240 was built to use R134a beginning 1993. 2) Conversion to R134a requires a new fitting on the compressor, if you see the two fittings are the same it's R-12. 3) Look for a system with pressure in it. Find a schrader valve fitting and push it quick, like you would a tire valve.
If you can't find one that has pressure, L.K. is right - get a rebuilt if you can't negotiate real cheap. Might help to get a quote from an indy a/c shop for cost of re-building.
Good Luck,
Bob
