One of the best 5spd (well, 4spd+OD) boxes on the road, IMHO.

It is geared a little low, but I like being able to cruise around town without leaving 2nd gear.

You're right, it's really not setup for stop-n-go city driving, but the weird ratios make it a long-legged highway cruiser. 2500rpm @ 70mph in my '85 245. Doesn't hit 3K RPM until 80+mph. I'm going to take a few long trips this summer (from No. California to Portland, OR and from Portland to Canada and then back to Calif.) so...
