Tom:

Is the hard start condition just when it's cold, cold and warm, or just warm? If it's just cold starts that are hard, you might look at the fuel pump check valve. Does the car run OK once you get it started? If it's just warm starts that are hard (and the car occasionally sputters and dies for no reason, then restarts after a cool down) I'd suspect the flywheel RPM sensor at the top of the bell housing.
