Nope. Replacement. 700 1987

OTOH, everyone has more than one volvo (if you have one you generally have two) so I just used the one on my 90 on the 87, solved the problem, so I bought a new one for the 87. Interestingly, the new one for the 87 did NOT work on the 90 (90 wouldn't run) but when I put the old 90 back on the 90 it worked fine. I put the new module for the 87 on the 87 and it's worked fine.

I noticed the new module comes complete with heat sink...my old one had the dielectric compound completely gone (excuse the grammar but you get the idea) which probably contributed to its eventual failure.

You might try removing the IC/power stage from its heat sink and smearing a gob (a precise volumetric measurement somewhere between a dab and a cowpie) of dielectric grease between it and its heatsink...it might keep the stage cool enough to run.
