Volvos best years for their B230FT began in '93. IMHO, having been there before....you're best by finding and installing a GOOD, lower mileage engine from a '93-'95 940T which has that engine. That'll be cheaper than trying to rebuild your old engine with better results if you're planning to keep the car for a while. The only problem is finding a good used engine from a reputable place as most will tell you that it's got low mileage (like "only 70K miles") as one place did recently who then sent us an old tired engine with piston knock. They then replaced it plus paid our shop labor to R&R it again BUT it's a hassle. The second engine from that place was good and we havent seen the customer since so apparently he's happy. If you go the used route, do replace the rear main seal before installing as it's alot easier then than later if it were to leak.
