I had very erratic idle problems, 1985 740GLE non-turbo. My problem turns out to be one very much stuck open injector, and bad spray pattern on the rest. SO far seems much better. Pull your fuel rail and observe injector spray, it could be part of the problem. (Remove ignition coil wire while doing this!!)
