My guess would be you had some vacuum (pocket of air)inside the cooling system.When it got bled out you had a good circulation and better cooling.I don't think there is something wrong w/ you're temperature sensor.They hardly (not that I know of)need replacement.Now on the 240 the board that controls the temperature gauge is prone to malfunctions..Good luck and keep an eye on that gauge for awhile.
