If you still need to repalce the sensor after the above info/trouble shooting -
There was a previous post that said to spray the sensor heavily the night before with a non-silcone based penetrating lubricant such as liquid wrench.
Then run the engine through a "quick 2 minute warm up" to let the lub seep.
Excellent advise! I walked into the garage the next morning and POP -- out came the sensor.
Also, plunk down the $12 bucks for a 02 socket (I got mine at Auto Zone). It's the only way to go. Just be carefull. Because of the slot for the wire it can stretch open and strip the sensor/socket/your knuckles.
The guy at auto zone was a big help. These sockets only come in Standard sizes and this confused me (like that's hard to do) He said all 02 sensors are the same size.
He also said that the socket is going to be pretty snug. This is to help prevent the "spread" mentioned above because of the wire slot. The last thing is he said if I felt that the socket did start to spread I could take it off the sensor and give a few taps with a hammer.
That's it. BTW, my sensor is/was a Bosch. Good luck - Kelly
