740 B230F Compression?

I am looking at a 1985 740 automatic trans. B230F engine, 311,000 kms, 75% city driving.

The last item on my checklist is engine compression.

When I tested it, the cylinder pressures were: - 90 - 90 - 80 -85 -.

(cylinders 1,2,3,4 respectively).

Plugs are clean with a good burn color (tan) not fouled at all.

This motor is leaking a fair bit of oil at the seals (gaasket cover, front & back cam cover seals, oil pan, etc.)

This compression seems a bit low - my '86 245 with a B230F is at 130 +- on all 4 cylinders.

Is it possible that the timing bely has slipped a cog and the valves are slightly out of time - not allowing maximum compression?

A speedy reply would help - I need to deal today or tomorrow.

Thanks

Gord
