I've owned VWs for years, and found the essentials for them to be 10, 11, 13, 15, 17, & 19 mm; since getting my 740, I've had to add 12, 14, & 18 mm to the kit, as well as a 25 mm for the oil drain plug (OEM - aftermarket may differ). Haven't seen a need for 16 mm yet, though... (Of course, having said that, I'll find I need it this weekend to loosen something...)

Haven't yet needed Torx, and don't recall using Allen wrenches yet.
