Re: Are std. length impact sockets ok for suspension work ALL ALL

Deep socket is needed for the top strut nut (top of tower). 24mm I think. With an impact wrench, this nut will loosen, given time (the shock piston spins some, so, it takes a few moments for the nut to work its way up the threads)

I also found it necessary to use an extension while operating the speing compressors. The bolts keep wanting to wedge against the spring seats, and move inside of them when they rise up above the seats.

Short sockets worked fine for tie rod ends and swaybar links. (17mm, I believe. I recall using an extension with it for the tie rod ends

Then again, I use the extension while doing wheel lug nuts, because with following behind with my torque wrench, I need that extension. It is just more convenient to slip the extension and short socket combo off the impact gun and onto the torque wrench in one movement.
