Hi everyone!

I posted a message one month ago, complaining my fuel pump was noisy ;

my car is a '82 245GL with B19E engine, K-jetronic fuel system.

I replaced the in-tank filter, pre-pump and hose, then every fuel line, the main fuel filter, the pressure accumulator, but nothing changed.

I was told to check the fuel pump check valve and electrical system, which I did : I replaced the valve from the volvo dealer, who told me it was a different valve for cars with an auto tranny ; anyway, it didn't help, I had always the same sound coming from the main fuel pump.

Then I tried to run direct cables (both ground and +12V) from the battery terminals to the fuel pumps to check if there was a resistance somewhere in the wirings ; anyway, the noise didn't change at all. (Anyway, I checked more than 13V at the pumps terminals with the original wiring)

Then I replaced the fuel pump itself ; since here in France they cost approx 300 US dollars at the volvo dealer, I purchased it from Bosch (150 US dollars for the same thing)

The Bosch dealer told me that my pump (0 580 254 949) was no longer aivaible and had been replaced by another model (0 580 254 909), and he said the pressure was the same, only the electric terminals changed.

This surprised me, but I purchased the pump (it came along with its own check valve). I installed the pump, and the noise was reduced but still present (and loud) ; besides, the idle is now too low after replacing the pump : it was at 900 rpm, now it's under 400 and I have to fight to prevent the engine from dying at every stop. I have to adjust a screw of the throttle since the normal bypass screw is out of adjustment.

I suspect they gave me a wrong fuel pump, and I also suspect there is still a problem in the fuel system somewhere : who has an idea?
