Replacing engine mounts is a fairly easy task. You can either
get an engine hoist to "lift" the engine up or a floor jack to
"push' the engine up.
Each engine mount has an upper and lower nut (17mm usually) that
you will have varying degrees of sucess reaching depending on the
equipment installed in your car. (AC/Turbo/Power steering.) Each
mount is also attached to 2 metal brackets. One bracket is above
the mount and bolts into the engine block. The other bracket is
below the mount and attaches to the cross member. If you cannot
undo the motor mount nuts, just undo one/both of the brackets.
Loosen the bolts on one side. Support the engine. Remove the
bolts, then the mount/bracket(s). Install the new mount and
reinstall the bracket(s) as one whole unit. Lower the engine.
The other side is just as easy.
While you are at it, I would recommend replacing the tranny
mount at the same time. You need a floor jack to support the
tranny, and you will need to remove the tranny cross member for
easiest access to the mount.
I did two turbo 240's over the week end in a few hours.
Oh, when you raise the engine the fan and fan shroud are the
first things to hit each other. I recommend loosening the fan
shroud before you start. It can just hang around the fan while
you work.
