The front window fell out of the rail that it sits in, and here is my summary-
There is a strip of padding that is glued to the bottom of the window to protect it from breakage by the rail, this had crumbled on the end and the window wiggled out.
I used duct tape to preserve the remainder of the padding and moved the rail over a fraction of an inch- toward the front, as to the back resulted in scraping- in order to avoid the deteriorated part. I recommend getting new padding, I am sure any car parts store or Lowe's/Home depot has something that will suffice as a replacement.
Problem was- I couldn't get the window back in the rail. (I posted and didn't get much help- didn't get ANY help in fact, there were 3 posts and none of them showed that the initial post had been read, just the first sentence or so- I was far past their suggestions and had indicated so)
I did this- removed the rail by pulling two clips from the scissor like contraption that moves it up and down. Careful not to lose the red washers that go under the clips! I carefully expanded the rail with needle nose. This made it a little easier, but still no cigar. What I ended up doing was to take a rubber mallot and tap the thing on, starting at one end and working across. A little WD-40 eased the problem to finish it off. Sliding pliers made it possible to apply equal pressure to both sides and squeeze the rail back.
Total cost of repair- $0.05 for WD-40 and $0.01 for duct tape (liberal estimates).
With no money in the bank, this was a successful repair!
