Hey craig ,I've owned a 1982 240 GL( diesel ) for 8.5 years , and i believe i have tried just about everything out there , and i've came up with no real change , but what i suggest is , if you have a diesel change your oil & air filter every 2000 miles , and your fuel filter every 4000, note* if your fuel filter has the drain screw on the bottom , drain it every 200 miles also , and thats all to , and she'll last for ever .

P.s. the trans axle fluid to I change it every 5000 miles , I hope this helps , good luck.
