My wifes 93 940 Turbo wagon has the check engine light on.
The light came on while my wife was out of town. She said it died while idling and engine warmed-up. Engine re-started right away. She made it back without any further problems.
When I took the car out for a test drive, I noticed the engine cut out after cruising at abt 80 MPH for 15 mins or so.
First time it cut-out for about 1 sec. Then, after abt 15 secs, it cut-out again. This time it lasted for about 5 secs, then began running normal again. Seemed like the ignition cut off. The engine never stopped spinning. Not sure if the auto tranny kept it turning or if the eng managed to keep itself running. I didn't notice if the tach dropped-out or not.
I slowed to 70 MPH and had no further problems.
Eng temp was right in the middle where it usually stays.
Is there a way to read the codes without a special test tool?
Maybe a pin that can be grounded and count light flashes or something like that?
The throttle body needs cleaning, but could it cause a fault code to be sent?
Thx,
John C.
