When said "nine out of ten," I meant that most heads do need to be replaced. Polishing the aluminum journal and cleaning the galled aluminum off the steel camshaft usually works. That, plus finding the reason the oil failed to reach the cam. And replacing the alignment pin, belt, tensioner...

Yes, and also confirming that the pipe 'n O-rings are still in place at the oil pump. And that the pan is clean, etc., etc., etc.....
