Get a thermometer and check the water temperature. It sounds like the gauge is bad. It is my experience that in a whole box of used ones, one might work properly. Also check the lower hose. On my pv's, they have a tendency to collapse. A new one with the wire in it solved the problem. I am not sure exactly how the 122 is set up, but pull a heater hose off and see if you are getting water movement. Could be the thermostate is in upside down or stuck shut. Too much silicone can clog it up.
