Hello- I have the exact same problem on my 89 740GL. It's awful. the idle pans outs sometimes but usually runs at 500RPM, which causes the car to shudder and occasionally stall. So, is this the same problem I have? Where is the generator belt? I replaced my main air intake hose recently, cause it had a huge slice in it and I thought that was the cause for the rough idle. If you could possibly explain your problem and let me know how to replace this belt I would greatly appreciate it. The idle is really bugging me cause I can't seem to figure it out and I didn't want to waste $ at the dreaded dealership. thanks so much:) Lauren
