OK, got the picture.

I couldn't remember how much clearance was in there because it is simple to yank with the engine/trans bolted together. That way you can slide the whole package back and forth until it clears out.

So thanks, Don, Nap, Bob, Bob, and Mike. I'm a big proponent of the 45 minute transmission removal, since I anticipate having to spend a while under there doing the clutch (and pilot bearing/rear main).

I'll be using floor jacks, most likely (2). If I do it in the shop, I can pop the hood off and use a chainfall for support. otherwise I'm going to have to block the engine up while I do it outside, before it just gets too cold.

The M47 is thankfully very light. Even I can haul the thing around myself.

My garage is choice #3.
