Yes. Ethan's absolutely right.

I installed one in a high milage 1968 Chev Suburban with a 292 L six when I lived in Montana. The cam lobes on the distributor shaft were worn, making it difficult to get the points open long enough for proper ignition. The Crane electronic ignition made a world of difference especially in cold weather (of which Montana has its share).
