Flame Trap Q!! 700 86

I'm thinking of replacing my flame trap (86 744 8valve).Question, oem volvo list two kinds i.e. metal (old stlye) and plastic (new style).Which

one is better ?? Tips on removal/installation/other things to do/replace while I'm at it ??? Thanks for the replies !!!
