Overdrive was working fine one day but not the next. I read all the FAQ before I wrote. I determined that my inhibitor 4th gear-switch was kinda weak & I replaced that. The green light now comes on in 4th even when it's cold. I used to have to let engine get warm. The solenoid clicks and is getting 12 volts. But when I push OD button, I either have to be going downhill or I have to back off the gas a little for it to drop into gear. Then when I accelerate or decelerate a little, tachometer goes up & down but the car is like it's in nuetral. If I step a little harder on gas pedal, it just drops back into 4th even though the green light stays on. Time to rebuild?
ps I might mention that this car sat for over a year & a half recently--just before I started driving it again. OD worked for about 4 days, then quit.
Also--I heard a couple different stories about how to get the overdrive off the back of trans--something about having it in the right gear before shutting the car off?
Thankyou.
