IMO - even though reverse came back, I'd still check all the basics as Patrick suggested.

Service transmission - change fluid and clean filter etc.
Ck. linkage
Ck. cables
Ck. vacuum lines

Can't hurt and probably will help! BTW - Although I don't know anything about the transmission in your car (I have a 1990 240), I do know from reading this board that the "slushboxes" in 240's often outlast the manuals so I wouldn't get discouraged!!!
