Big problems with 740 700 1991

Brian, you need to check the engine oil. Pull the dipstick and look at the oil. If it is foamy they water is getting into the oil. Take off the oil cap and look inside the engine as well. IS is foamy?

The proper way to check for such problems is to perform a compression test.

You mention that coolant is all over the engine compartment. Since you have have replaced all the hoses, including the heater hoses under the intake manifold right, look at the back side of the water pump on the enhaust side. There is a pipe which runs along the side of the block and behing the engine for the heater hose. This pipe fits into the rear of the water pump and has a square section rubber ring. Is this leaking?

Please report back with your findings.

Look at the 700/900 faq via the 'features' pull down menu.
