4th Gear Disengaging

Passing when you want a little extra power without depressing the pedal enough to "kick" the transmission down. Especially useful if you tow anything with the car so as not to lug the engine. Locking out the overdrive allows the car to operate in an RPM band that is associated more with power than economy. I very seldom find myself using the lockout function.
