GF's 1986 244DL didn't start for her this morning. It's had a problem for a while that I'd like help in diagnosing.
Cold starting required a touch of throttle. Engine would continue on it's own (no throttle) only after a few seconds. It seemed to me that the idle motor wasn't working when cold so I opened up the throttle bypass valve and that helped (no throttle required for cold start). What could cause the idle motor not to work? Should I replace the idle motor or could the computer be at fault?
This morning was the coldest yet so I think the ancient battery (unknown history) just gave up. I'm heading up to Guelph to fix it on Thursday so I'd like to fix the idle motor problem too. I'll check whether the alternator is charging properly too.
Thanks for any advice.
