That is a pretty common problem. Another one is maladjusted points
because of point cam wear in the distributor. To get the proper dwell
angle usually the point gap will be MUCH less than the books show,
and if your dwell angle is insufficient, the ignition gets weak at
high rpms because the coil doesn't have enough time to build the
required magnetic field for each spark. (Electronic ignition solves
this problem - the system from a 1975 B20, used in the first 240 cars
works very well, if you can find one.)
