hard cold start / very rough idle when cold 700 1989

By the black smoke indication, i would check the coolant sensor for the ECU which is in the head (there are 2 i nthe head, check the FAQ on brickboard to see which one) as when these fail it makes the car hard/impossible to start as it dumps fuel in excess of what is needed and fouls the plugs, pull the plugs when its cold and if they are close to fouled replace them and the coolant temp sensor for the ecu. good luck, if this doesn't work, try searching the FAQ or contact me : turbo745Ti@juno.com
