The temp comp board is there to end questions from Volvo owners about why the temp gauge moves up and then back to normal every morning? It is also there to enhance dealer profit.

The board can be removed and cleaned and re-installed, or a new unit put in, or - best IMHO - taken out of the loop entirely. I like to see that needle move with the action of the thermostat.
