Repeated stalling (long) 200 1980

If you've tried the fixes already suggested and they didn't help, try these:

1. Fuel pump relay. I have a 1980 wagon. The relay is under the driver's side dash, held against the underside of the firewall by a big metal clip.

Buuuuuut...

2. The symptoms sound more like something else that happened to mine:

Try replacing the ignition control module. It's the black box on the inside of the right fender, right at the front--just behind the cross-member. It's got a big elec connector (looks sort of like a parallel computer connector) plugged into the bottom.

Don't even think about buying one new. First you need a swap-out unit to troubleshoot this. I stumbled across one in a junkyard car--the unit looked a lot newer than the car so I grabbed it just in case, because this went out once in the past (diagnosed by a garage--you got to know the resistance on various circuits to check a module).

So when my car started choking out a few weeks ago, I just swapped units and it's fine now. Well it's still 21 years old but it doesn't have seizures any more.

I think they used this type ignition box until the electronic injection came in (1983?).

Hope this helps.
