If you have a US market 740, the distributor has nothing to do with the timing. The timing is done by the RPM sensor which is mounted in a recess in the bell housing directly under the distributor. All the distributor does is route the spark to the proper cylinder.
What year engine did you install in this car? It does make a difference. If you have installed a LH 2.2 engine in a LH 2.4 car, it isn't going to work.
The injectors all fire at once, so when they fire during each revolution is irrevelent. It is only important that they fire. Do check for voltage to the injectors. Their opening is controled by the ECU, which grounds the injectors all at once.
